Your doctor has recommended Nowra Radiology. We use the latest advanced medical imaging equipment for better quality and increased safety. Our radiologists have many years of experience, as well as a broad range of qualifications. The entire team at Nowra Radiology are committed to providing our patients and referrers with an efficient, high quality radiology service. Our clients travel from all over the Shoalhaven. We understand how stressful procedures can be so we aim to make your visit to us as smooth and friendly as possible.

Nowra Radiology are open 8am – 5pm weekdays. We are conveniently located in the centre of Nowra and only a short walking distance from free council parking. There is also a patient drop off zone out the front and disabled parking at the rear of the complex. Each procedure requires different preparation. Please Contact Us if you can’t find the relevant information. Our friendly staff are always happy to answer any questions about your procedure or help with general enquiries.

 

Preparation for Examination
Unless otherwise advised, please continue to take your medications as usual. If you are diabetic, please advise us at the time of booking as fasting may be required for an examination.
Note: This information is on the back of the referral forms

CT Scan
Chest, Abdomen, Pelvis: Fast for 6 hrs prior to examination, drink water only during this time. Will be at Nowra Radiology for 1.5 hr.
Chest, Neck, Brain: Fast for 4 hrs prior to examination, may drink water only during this time.

Ultrasound
Abdomen: Nothing to eat or drink for 6 hrs prior to the examination.
Pelvis, Renal & 1st Trimester Pregnancy: Empty bladder 1.5 hrs before examination and drink 1 ltr of water over the next 30 minutes & do not empty bladder. Bladder must be full for this examination.
Aorta Duplex: 48 hrs prior to examination no gassy drinks. 24 hrs prior to examination no dairy or fatty foods. Nothing to eat or drink from 9 pm the night before the examination.
Renal Duplex: On the morning of the examination – Black tea and toast lightly spread with butter. No smoking and No chewing gum.

Barium Studies: Please phone to receive preparation instructions for these examinations.

Workers Compensation and Motor Vehicle Insurance:
Costs for services that are intended to be covered by Workers Compensation or Motor Vehicle Insurance need to be approved by the insurer before an appointment is made.
